A tragic truck accident in Tukwila killed four people over the weekend. Washington State Patrol said the accident happened early Sunday morning shortly after 2 a.m. on Highway 518 not far from the Interstate 405 intersection. Only one vehicle is believed to have been involved in the accident.
Washington State Patrol troopers first received report of the accident at 2:17 a.m. and arrived to find a totaled Nissan Titan truck. Due to unknown reasons, the Nissan truck appears to have veered suddenly off the highway and into a concrete barriers beneath Interstate 5.
Five men were inside of the Nissan truck at the time of the crash and only one survived. The accident survivor was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in nearby Seattle to treat his injuries after being ejected from the truck. His identity has yet to be released to the public since authorities have yet to notify the next of kin of the victims who perished in the accident.
Trooper Rick Johnson said the investigation of the crash shows that the Nissan truck was traveling at a dangerously high speed. Indeed, the truck was going so fast that it flipped over its side before crashing into the concrete pillar. Trooper Johnson said there was no damage to the structure the Nissan truck collided with.
Harborview Medical Center confirmed that the accident victim remains in serious condition.
