A tragic crash in Federal Way along the Pacific Highway killed one man and sent three others to the hospital. Two of the victims were children of the driver responsible for the accident. The children are no longer in critical condition and the third victim, the children’s mother, has been released from Harborview Medical Center.
Police are investigating whether reckless speeding was the cause of the accident. The white sedan, which caused the accident, was reported to have been driving erratically southbound along Pacific Highway when he crossed the center line into northbound traffic and collided with a red truck. The accident occurred mid-afternoon on Friday, January 5th.
Federal Way Police tweeted that speeding or racing was likely to blame for the accident and that Pacific Highway would be closed for close to three hours.

The driver’s friend, Thomisa Maldonado, told Kiro 7 news of the driver’s love of speed and that she was in disbelief over the accident. “Ah, still in shock,” said Maldonado. She believes he loved his family and when asked if the accident was intentional said, “No, no. And it was his first daughter. His first daughter. And he always wanted a daughter. That’s the littlest one.”
The driver in the pickup was uninjured. Federal Way Police are still investigating the crash.
