It was reported that the two riders blew right through a stop sign and were violently struck by a large sports utility van.

The Police Chief of West Yellowstone, Scott Newell, said the riders were immediately ejected from their snowmobile and flown onto the side of the road.

Newell stated that one of the snowmobile riders was transported by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls  with serious injuries.

Unfortunately, the other rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the incident.

The riders were believed to be traveling through West Yellowstone, a small town in southern Montana near one of the park’s entrances, for only a few days. They reportedly rented their snow vehicle from one of the local snowmobile businesses in town.

As of now, the current condition of the surviving rider is unknown. The names of the accident victims have also not yet been released.

The snowmobile crash is still being investigated by West Yellowstone Police.

Being injured in a snowmobile crash can be devastating, especially since snow vehicles offer very minimal protection for riders. If you were recently injured in a crash due to another person’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries.
