Two children, 10 and 9, were seriously injured in a pedestrian accident Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred shortly after 1 in the afternoon in South Seattle. Both girls were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries, and one girl remains in critical condition.
Seattle Police said the pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of South Henderson Street and Rainier Avenue South. The girls were in the middle of crossing the street when a sedan failed to stop and hit them. The pedestrian accident occurred in the Dunlap neighborhood.
“The driver stopped and was interviewed by police,” said Seattle Police Sergeant Sean Whitcomb. Kiro 7 News later reported that the driver who hit the girls was an adult female who had a child in her car at the time of the accident.
One female is in critical condition and one is in serious condition, from the pedestrian/motor vehicle collision that occurred at Rainier Ave. S./S. Henderson St.

Both girls were rushed to Harborview Medical Center to treat their injuries. Seattle Police confirmed the 10-year old’s injuries were substantially more serious than the 9-year-old girl’s.
Both roads were blocked off for hours while the Seattle Fire Department and emergency responders treated the girls for their injuries.
Seattle Police are currently investigating the cause of the pedestrian accident.
