A Seattle police officer was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash early Thursday morning. The Seattle police department said the motorcycle crash occurred near the Snohomish and King County border.

The motorcycle crash took place just before 6:30 a.m., blocking traffic along the southbound HOV lane near NE 205th Street for hours. Several lanes of southbound I-5 along with the northbound HOV lane were shut down for hours. The Washington State Department of Transportation was the first to report the motorcycle crash and the partial road closures.
Seattle emergency responders reported that the officer injured in the motorcycle crash was conscious at the scene. After being transported to Harborview Medical Center, he was reported to be in stable condition.
Seattle Police detectives are actively investigating the cause of the motorcycle crash. It has been reported that traffic cameras revealed another vehicle was involved in the motorcycle crash. Seattle Police is expected to release an APB on the vehicle within the coming days.
