Duck Crossing Leads to Fatal Crash in Vancouver

A three-vehicle crash was caused by a driver stopping to allow a family of ducks to cross the road near Vancouver. A second vehicle, a white Nissan driving behind the first, slowed down and was hit by a third vehicle, a Dodge pickup truck. The driver of the white Nissan, Michael Felton, 51, of Ridgefield, was declared dead at the scene of the crash. Washington State Patrol said the crash took place on the I205 on-ramp to WB Mill Plain Road. Traffic was delayed for some time after the crash. Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the crash, but they believe it is due to inattention from the driver of the pickup truck. The driver of the first vehicle was transported to a local hospital to treat minor injuries. No ducks were reported to have been injured in the crash.
